Why North Hochatown is great for stargazing
Space Cowboy sits in the pines north of the Hochatown strip, bordering the Ouachita National Forest. There's very little artificial light out here, so on clear nights the Milky Way shows up over the treeline — something most guests from Dallas, Tulsa and Oklahoma City rarely see at home.
Your stargazing setup
- The dome suite: a true geodesic dome with a king bed, dome windows to the sky and a telescope ready at the window
- Observatory deck: carry the telescope out for an unobstructed view
- Second telescope in the main cabin, so the kids get a turn too
- Galaxy-painted ceilings in the starry loft and throughout the cabin, for cloudy nights
- Fire pit with Adirondack chairs for watching meteors with a s'more in hand
Best nights to come
New-moon weekends are darkest. The big annual meteor showers — the Perseids in mid-August and the Geminids in mid-December — are prime time. Planning around one? Message us through the booking engine and we'll tell you which nights look best.
The rest of the cabin
Hot tub with an outdoor TV, barrel sauna, arcade, pool table, private pickleball, putt-putt and nearby ATV trails. Five sleeping spaces for up to 12 guests.
